I attended an amazing Spiritual Gifts Discovery workshop at church yesterday. The workshop was detailed and enlightening. I would like to share a few things from it.
What are Spiritual Gifts?
- Special abilities or endowments
- Given by the Holy Spirit
- Distributed to every Believer
- For the common good of the body of Christ
Spiritual Gifts are NOT:
- Natural talents
- The fruit of the Spirit
- Church positions
- Christian disciplines
Your Spiritual Gift is not for you, it is given to you for others.Purpose of Spiritual Gifts:
- To serve God “whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” 1 Peter 4:11b ESV
- To produce maturity and stability in our church family. “And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ” Ephesians 4:11-13 ESV
The best part of the workshop was the Spiritual Gifts Assessment that we did at the end. It was interesting for the participants, including me, to see what spiritual gifts the assessment revealed. For some the results were surprising and for others it was confirmation.
The assessment revealed my spiritual gifts as:
- Teaching
- Faith
- Encouragement
- Helps
My results were definitely confirmation, especially because I spent so much of this past week setting up this website that will incorporate these gifts
I took another test today online and it revealed the same spiritual gifts.
