Do you set goals?

We hear all the time that we should set goals. Career goals, Life goals, Fitness goals, Family Goals, etc.

Goals are great. They provide you with a clear destination. We must challenge ourselves to make sure our goals are Christ-centered.

And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Colossians 3:17

So how do we ensure that we are setting godly goals?

We ask ourselves these 5 questions:

1)   How will achieving this goal place me in a position to serve the Lord better?

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.

Colossians 3:23-24

2)   Have you had a conversation with God about this goal?

And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.

1 John 5:14-15

3)   Is this your goal or God‘s goal for you?

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Jeremiah 29:11

4)   How will this goal bring you closer to the God?

And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.

Luke  9:23

5)   How will achieving this goal help bring others closer to God?

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.

Matthew 28:19-20

Honestly answering these 5 questions will give you great insight on if your goals are Christ-centered.
